WOMEN'S GOLF AT THE WOODS
Come on out to explore the opportunities for women who enjoy golf, think you might enjoy golf or just want to get to know other women golfers at The Woods. We have opportunities for players at all levels of the game from those interested in enjoying an outing with friends to those who have a more competitive drive. The Woods Women’s Golf Association (WWGA) coordinates the golfing experience for all our members.
Weekend Tournaments: Tournaments are held on weekends throughout the season, usually April thru October. Some tournaments are fun, geared toward a more social experience, while others are more competitive to determine the Club Champion. We usually have one women’s only event and one mixed event with the men each month. There are nominal fees and prizes awarded for each event. There is a Member Guest event where you are encouraged to invite someone to play and a Charity event to raise money for a local charity.
Tuesday Games: Every Tuesday throughout the season, there are games that you can participate in by signing up at The Pro Shop. There are 4 options for play on Tuesday: Mountain View Course 18 Holes, Mountain View 9 Holes, Stony Lick Course 18 Holes or Stony Lick Course 9 Holes. There is something for everyone regardless of skill or age!
Mason Dixon District: If you enjoy league play, this is for you. This is a league with clubs from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Tournaments are held at each member club throughout the season and are played during the week. There is a Fun Day event at the end of the year were all are welcome to try it out. You need a Mountain View handicap of 30 or under when you join, but once in you are a member for as long as you wish.
We will also keep you informed of other opportunities such as West Virginia Women’s Events which you are eligible to play in. There are also informal pick-up games on weekend mornings which we coordinate with the Pro Shop. We are always open to your ideas as well, so please sign up and come play with us!
