Dear WWGA Members,
I am writing you to let you know I am thinking about the WWGA 2020 weekend tournament season. Our opening scramble and breakfast will be on April 25th. This is a gentle format for new golfers and I am looking forward to meeting our new members at the breakfast. You do not need to play in the scramble to attend the breakfast.
The WWGA Board is very much hoping someone will volunteer or co-volunteer to chair the Member-Guest tournament which will be on June 19th and 20th. I have served on many WWGA boards and events and it is always a wonderful way to get to know fellow golfers at the Woods. A wise man once said to me that volunteering is masochistic by nature, so choose those things from which you receive a lot to give your time and energy. Women's golf at the Woods is one of those "things" for me.
At the end of the 2020 golf season, our President, Becky Almeter, and I will have served our 3-year terms. If WWGA is going to continue to function well, we will need new volunteers to serve on the Board and help with our major events. To encourage participation, we have voted to move our monthly meetings to Saturday afternoons. Hopefully, this will allow women who are not at the Woods during the week the opportunity to serve on the WWGA Board.
The Woods has one of the largest women's golf associations which I have experienced by playing in the Mason-Dixon Golf League. I am asking if you will please consider volunteering in some capacity to maintain the joyful experience for women golfers at The Woods. For those individuals who volunteer often and enthusiastically, I thank you and appreciate you.
