Lessons

If you wish to improve your game and need help, we have three great instructors:

Monday Night Scrambles

Every Monday starting at 3:00 pm, any Woods resident with a Class A membership may play in a 9 or 12 hole scramble.  They usually play 12 holes on Stony Lick during the summer, but play 9 holes on Mountain View on occasion.  Cost is $3, all of which is returned to the players in the form of winnings.  After the round, members are invited to enjoy an evening of food and conversation at The Grille.  This scramble is open to all golfers (any skill level, even those who do not have an established golf handicap) and is a great way to meet new people and have fun.  Contact Rich Minnis at richard_minnis@comcast.net to receive weekly emails/sign-up info.

Walk the  "Old Course"

This is an informal group of men and women who meet on Fridays around 4:00 at the practice putting green and walk the “original” 9 holes (#1,2,3,4,5,10,11,17,18) on Mountain View.  Just show up if you wish to play.

Invitationals

Often other clubs contact the Pro Shop or one of our members to invite our members to an Invitational at their club. Usually an announcement will be sent to our members informing them of the opportunity.

Charity Tournaments

Local groups such as Junior Mentoring Program (JuMP), or the Hedgesville Lions Club  have tournaments which are open to The Woods golfers. These tournaments can be found on the tab marked “Calendar” on the menu bar, and on the Charity Tournaments page. Additional ones may be posted outside the Pro Shop.

Men's Groups

Need to get your “S.O.” involved in a golf group? Here are some opportunities.

  • Woods Men’s Golf Association (WMGA) – www.thewmga.org. This group is the counterpart to the WWGA and organizes weekend tournaments and informal play on Saturday and Sunday mornings (Woodsmen).

  • Thursday Men’s Golf League – www.thursdaygolf.org

  • Thursday Men (Stony Lick) – contact Patrick Peartree at 703-622-5529
